I hadn't seen the driver offering to take me back to Knoxville before I replied "Yes". I after I agreed to take the ride, both Randy and the other utility worker gave me a strange look. One like, "Are you serious?" Given they had both talked to and seen the driver I started to wonder.

It was just about two months ago I had one of those experiences that as they say, "sticks to your ribs." One you remember for years to come and will tell to your grandchildren. An experience so strange that during it you pinch yourself to make sure it isn't a dream. So, bear with me as I setup the details of the story because it is in those details the beauty is found.

Meaning What You Say

Words carry a great influence. Often they are uttered mindlessly from what is heard or read strictly because it sounds "good". Phrases are dropped into the conversation without truly thinking through what is actually being stated. Many of us have these drop phrases... phrases like "I know" when we haven't a clue or "you know" when we can't explain it.

Remaking America

Looking back at the inauguration of President Obama, history was made because a man of no unique personal attributes, no exceptional qualifications, promising nothing other than change took the oath of office as the most powerful political officer in the world. We saw a media claiming to be unbiased go "Ga ga" over an event strictly because the new president is black. An opinion they have demonstrated through their lack commentary over his plans because he never enumerated them. In fact, from the perspective of a medical student who has been unable to keep tabs on much anything over the last two years, the most I knew and of Obama's policy was change with little specifics. Change ranging from increasing taxes and socializing our government to making a college football playoff.
